Pruning overgrowth on the sqebeqsed trail

June 20th 2023

Every 5 or 10 years Seattle Parks trims back the overgrowth on the main trail, the sqebeqsed, to maintain passage for trucks – trucks delivering mulch, water for the cisterns, plants for restoration. And for rescue vehicles should the need arise.

We have suggested a walk-through with the Parks Trail Crew lead, a suggestions graciously accepted, though not yet scheduled. We hope to work out a pruning strategy that retains the natural feel of the trail; which permits passage to the occasional service vehicle; that will not need to be repeated for five or so years.

See below the exuberant growth at the southern entrance to the trail.
