Many months of the year we hold volunteer forest work parties, often on the the first Saturday of the month.
The typical event has about ten people, kids included, with these activities:
- Mulching
- Restoration Planting
- Invasive Removal
- Forest Health Monitoring
All four activities have the same general purpose: to contribute to the long-term health of Seward’s rare urban old-growth forest. Ten years of steady loss in the sword fern understory is a principal (but not exclusive) concern.
